Where to Look If You’re Looking for a Job

Over the past week, I’ve sent the same email to three different people looking for a job.

The job market is tough right now - especially for new grads. All three were 1–2 years out of college, siblings of friends or family friends. Two were looking for any job. The third was specifically interested in tech.

So I figured it was worth turning my template email - the one I send every time I get any job-related inbound - into a quick post that might help others too.

Hopefully, this becomes a living resource. And might help you find a job if you are looking, or it’s something you can share next time someone reaches out asking how to start the search.

Finding Jobs Through VC Job Boards

The main hook:

A lot of venture funds maintain tricky job boards that list open roles within their portfolio companies.

Venture funds are motivated to recruit for the companies they invest in to show value-add.

But unless you know someone in the venture or startup world, you probably haven’t heard of most of these funds and don’t know these job boards exist.

So I made a list of venture funds (and their job boards) where you can search:

Most funds link their job boards on their websites, but if it’s not obvious and not on the spreadsheet, a quick Google search of “Fund Name + Job Board” usually works.

The roles range from engineering to operations and marketing to executive assistant, so don’t think they are only for senior engineers.
